Lea Francis

Head Instructor - Level III

Lea Francis comes to Pilates from an extensive background in dance. Having trained in Classical ballet, she went on to dance in Australia's leading dance companies, such as Sydney Dance Company, Chunky Move, Bangarra Dance Theatre, and guest appearances with the Australian Ballet. Lea enjoyed the benefits of Pilates as part of her daily training routine during her career as a dancer. Later, after sustaining an injury to her knee, Lea found those benefits instrumental during her rehabilitation, which allowed her to safely continue her dance career with improved muscular strength and support.

With a passion for movement and dedication to the art of Pilates, Lea is a seasoned instructor known for her expertise and commitment to excellence. She began training in 2000 as a Pilates instructor under master teacher Cynthia Lochard at her Pilates Method Studio and has since been promoted to Level 3 Teacher Trainer of the Romana's Pilates Training Program.

Over her career, Lea has worked closely with clients, guiding them toward greater strength, flexibility, and mind-body awareness. Beyond her studio practice, she has played a role in educating and developing Pilates practitioners, providing instruction to Romana Pilates apprentices and instructors alike.

She has studied with many overseas-levelled instructors, including Romana Kryzanowska, enriching her understanding of the classical Pilates method and refining her teaching techniques.
